  ABOUT CABM

THE COLLEGE

G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology got another first to its name by being pioneer in setting up the first College of Agri-Business Management (CABM) in India under the SAU system. The CABM, was established at Pantnagar in October 1996 following the G.O. No. 215/12-8-96 -400(214)/91 T.C. dated 16.10.96 from the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The College earned approval of All India Council of Technical Education [AICTE] also, the apex statutory body for regulating technical as well as managerial education in country, for conducting Master’s Programme in Business Administration. Subsequently, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi has accredited the College for imparting education and honing skills in the knowledge domain of Business Administration. The college, very much like it’s mother Institution and on its very footprints, cruised ahead to earn Quality System Certification ISO 9001: 2000 for maintaining world class academic standards and documentation process. The B- School ranking survey conducted by a popular national weekly magazine, ‘Outlook’ has more than once, ranked college in Top five sectoral B – Schools in the country.

The college offers Masters Programme in Business Administration, broadly for aspirants from two backgrounds, out of which one happens to be of aspirants having earned their Bachelors in Agriculture or Allied Sciences, while the other group comprises students having earned their bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology. The students with background in agriculture and allied sciences are offered industry specialization in Agribusiness and its sub-sectors, whereas the students’ with engineering or technology background are offered specialization in functional areas, viz, Finance Management, Marketing Management etc.

The domain of Business Administration, due to being professional in nature, for long has been facing an acute crunch of qualified manpower to take the positions at centres of learning. The college, therefore, moving a step forward towards fulfilling its duties and responsibilities for society in general and academic community in particular, launched its Ph. D. Programme in Management from academic session 2007.The College has a clear vision and mission, which has been summed up in the points mentioned below:

  • To impart education and training to young men and women for developing managerial skill in various areas of agribusiness and functional areas of management.
  • To offer training courses for policy makers, executives and those in charge of business related projects;
  • To conduct research on problems in agribusiness and other sectors of the economy and to improve the management of enterprises and projects;
  • To assist business organizations in solving their management problems by providing consulting services, and
