Pursuant to the decisions of the Academic Council (resolution 94:282:11.2 of the 282nd meeting held on 9.11.94, and 96:297:8.5 of the 29th meeting held on 26.4.96), the Board of Management of the University (resolution 42 of the 15th meeting held 28/29.12.94, and resolution 31 of the 16nd meeting held on 12/13.5.96), and clearance from the Government (vide letter no 215/12-8-96-400(214)/91 T.C. dated 16.10.96, from Government of Uttar Pradesh), the Faculty (School) of Agri Business Management was set up at Pantnagar the board of management of the university in its meeting held on 28-29 march 1998 approved the structure of the faculty (College of Agribusiness Management )
The G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology has taken a lead in setting up the first College of Agribusiness Management (CABM) in India under the SAU system. The CABM, was established at Pantnagar in October 1996 following the G.O. No. 215/12-8-96 -400(214)/91 T.C. dated 16.10.96 from the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The College has been accredited by the All India Council of Technical Education to conduct Master’s Programme in Agribusiness Management. Subsequently, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi has also accredited the College for imparting Management education.
The objectives of the College are :
Organizational Structure : The Dean is the head of the college. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the college and is directly responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for its administration. As provided in the Statutes, the College is having a Board of Faculty for guiding and monitoring the academic activities of the College. On the recommendations of the Academic Council, the Board of Management of the University in its 171st meeting held on 28.2.98, approved initially three departments for the College. In the wake of strengthening the academic wings of the college, the college added two new departments namely Human Resource and Personnel Management and Agribusiness Economics and Policy in year 2004-05. The college also owns four centres to cater the diversified requirements of academics, research and extension activities.
